Indian Mounds Park covers more than 42 acres, with over 20 separate mounds located throughout the park. The biggest of the mounds is known as the Wright Earthworks, which is a large circular enclosure about 530 feet in diameter. This circle contains two circles and four straight walls on the inside. The mounds at Indian Mounds Park date from 500 BC to around 1000 AD and are thought to have once been part of a larger ceremonial or religious site. The original purpose of these mounds and earthworks is still debated. Some theorize that they served as defensive or ceremonial fortifications or structures, while others believe that the structures were primarily used for astronomical purposes or for use in other ceremonies. The mounds and earthworks have also been linked to more modern roles, such as being used as hunting lodges during the 1800s.  Learn more about Walmart in Columbus, Ohio.
