Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located in Columbus, Ohio. The conservatory is one of the largest Victorian-style glasshouses in the United States. Learn information about Columbus, OH.


The Franklin Park Conservatory was founded in 1895 by Columbus philanthropist William Dennison. Columbus architect, James W. McLaughlin, designed the conservatory in the shape of a cross, with four arms extending from a central Rotunda. The building is constructed of iron and steel, with clear and colored glass panes. The Conservatory is home to various plants, including palms, ferns, orchids, bonsai, cacti, and more. Visitors can also stroll through the Conservatory's bonsai garden or relax in the Japanese-style teahouse.


In addition to its plant life, the Conservatory is also home to various sculptures, including a life-size replica of Michelangelo's David and works by American artists such as Thomas Hart Benton, Alexander Calder, and Henry Moore. The Conservatory also has a café and a gift shop.


The Franklin Park Conservatory is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free for members and $14 for non-members. Discounts are available for seniors, students, and children.
