The Park of Roses was founded in 1953 by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. The park was initially designed as a display garden for the All-American Rose Selections. The first rose bush was planted in 1954. In 1971, the Columbus Park of Roses Foundation was formed to help fund and maintain the park.
